XI. WORSHIP AND LAY MINISTRIES

The Holy Eucharist is celebrated at 8 AM and 10 AM each Sunday. The 10 AM service is sung with the participation of the Director of Music and the Adult Choir. A sermon is preached at both services.

In recent years, it has also been the custom for a children's sermon to be preached at most of the 10 AM services. The children, who are otherwise engaged in Sunday School during the service, are brought into the sanctuary for the sermon, which follows announcements and precedes the Sign of Peace.

Incense is used on the key seasonal occasions of the church calendar.

A midweek healing service is conducted on Wednesday morning at 9 AM, usually in the chapel. In addition to the Holy Eucharist, it includes a prayer for healing and laying on of hands as well a short period for discussion or reflection.

MUSIC

Trinity has traditionally enjoyed an active and vibrant music program, open to all parishioners. The Director of Music and the Adult Choir serve regularly at the 10 AM service and a Children's Choir is assembled and rehearsed for special seasonal services. Special seasonal programs over the years have included handbell choirs recruited from within the congregation and the participation of guest musicians. In recent years, special Christmas and Easter programs, usually on Sunday evenings, have become a regular part of Trinity's musical calendar.

The adult choir currently has 10 members and holds rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and, at the discretion of the Director of Music, immediately following some 10 AM Sunday services.

ACOLYTES

An active acolyte program, including both youth and adult members, supports both the 8 AM and 10 AM services. Two servers usually participate at 8 AM and the 10 AM service typically includes two servers, two torchbearers and a crucifer -- more on high Holy Days. Training and scheduling are provided by an acolyte master and assistant.

ALTAR GUILD

Trinity's Altar Guild is comprised of parishioners who provide a wide range of traditional setup and support of worship services. Scheduling is coordinated by the Altar Guild director.

CHALICE ADMINISTRATORS

Several licensed chalice administrators from within the congregation are scheduled, in rotation, to assist in the Sunday Eucharists.

LECTORS

Several readers from within the congregation are scheduled, in rotation, to read the lessons at Sunday services.

LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

A small group of parishioners are commissioned to take consecrated bread and wine directly from the Sunday morning Eucharists to infirm or hospitalized parishioners.

USHERS AND GREETERS

Ushers and greeters are assigned to both Sunday services on a rotation basis.

COUNTERS

Several pairs of parishioners are scheduled on a rotating basis to count the collections from Sunday services, immediately following the 10 AM Eucharist and ensure that all donations are properly recorded and deposited in the Trinity bank account.
